I’ve been following Local Escape for quite a while, and I’m glad to finally travel with you guys.

This is my second trip to Ujung Kulon. My first trip was quite unfortunate (I went with another open trip with poor accommodation and service), so I decided to visit again since I love how we can explore both the sea and trek the jungle here. I always joked that Ujung Kulon is like budget Labuan Bajo–it’s a nice escape not too far from home with beautiful views without breaking the bank.

Local Escape was great. The team shared very detailed information on what to bring, what to know, and reminders even before the trip. The storytelling is enjoyable; I learned a lot about badak Jawa, local superstitions, and how taman nasional operates.

Accommodation is comfortable. Even though I love nature and would love to travel adventurously, I still need a comfortable bed to sleep on and a clean toilet to use. I’m glad we got both with Local Escape.

Besides the special Local Escape itinerary, I truly appreciate your commitment to sustainability and impact on the community. One of the reasons I chose Local Escape is because you guys use reusable lunchboxes and cutlery during the entire trip (except the single-use bottled water during the start and end of the trip hehe) because I’m trying to be responsible with my waste. I often bring home plastic trash to recycle from my travels, but that’s not the most practical. Local Escape offers a solution to my travel worries in terms of waste, and that’s great.

I also believe that travel should positively impact or at least not damage local communities, hence the fact that you guys have programs to build bridges in Ujung Kulon and shelters in Waykambas is admirable.

The guides are helpful and caring, and I’m glad to connect with new friends during this open trip. I also appreciate Local Escape’s personal touch with the postcard+photo at the end of the trip :’)

The trip is very worth the price. Compared to other trips I heard about from my friends, the service and experience is excellent. The local guides and tour leader are very knowledgeable and friendly, always making sure we had a pleasant experience during the trip. I would definitely choose Local Escape again for my future trips. The preparation for the trip was also very easy since Local Escape’s team provided us with guidelines for the whole trip planning.

Seru bangetttt! I will try another Local Escape trip. Everything went smoothly and on time. It felt like trekking with my friends, even though with strangers.

I could feel the Local Escape team’s passion for nature and wildlife through their ethical approach and genuine support for the local communities. As a result, the trip not only gave me a new experience but also offered fresh insights and a new perspective.

Although this is not my first nature trek trip, this is my first solo/open trip. I am glad that I made the choice to go with Local Escape, my overall experience has been more than satisfactory. What sets this trip apart from my other travel experiences are the guides, Muti, Kenny and Rendy, that were kind enough to share their stories, knowledge and wisdom to us during the trip. If not for them, I would have never known the extensive history & current condition of not only Rhinos in Ujung Kulon, but Ujung Kulon in general. The kindness they extended during the trip is also greatly appreciated, not once ever I feel unsafe in this trip. This is definitely a trip I would never forget, and actually makes me excited to travel with Local Escape again. The friends I made along the way also made the trip even more enjoyable. On scale 1 to 10, nilaiku di 20/10 yang artinya super satisfied dengan semua kegiatan selama trip. Local Escape berhasil provide aku, yang belum pernah sama sekali trip ke area-area hutan dengan services dan knowledge yang sangat baik dan seru. Waktu disana, aku bisa bilang aku jadi ngga terlalu perduli dengan dokumentasi/footages yang harus aku keep, krn aku invested banget sama suasa selama trip ini! Karena selama ini, kemana aku pergi aku ngga begitu mikir tentang filosofi tempat, sejarah atau karakteristik lokasi yang aku kunjungi. Tapi selama trip Ujung Kulon kemarin, untuk pertama kalinya aku bener-bener tertarik jauh lebih dalam dgn tempat yang aku kunjungi, aku sangat impressed dengan informasi dan spot-spot yang dikunjungi selama bareng Local Escape kemarin, aku pulang dengan banyak insight baruu, dari vegetasi dan binatang endemik Ujung Kulon, Post-Infrastructure setelah area desa-desa di Ujung Kulon terkena tsunami (Terutama, pengalaman Kak Rendy sebagai warga lokal), tentang Badak Jawa yang belum tentu informasinya bisa aku dapet secara credible di internet, dan simply kaya gimana sih isi hutan itu.

I would love to try another Trip with Local Escape, karena ini sesuatu yang baru dan beda dari trip-trip lain pada umumnya, semoga aku selalu ada rezeki dan kesempatan yaa.

it’s my third trip with you guys, this time to Ujung Kulon (accidentally, LOL), and it was absolutely incredible! I loved the jungle trekking, the boat trip, and even crossing the river—it was such a fun experience. The guides were amazing as always, sharing so much cool info about the ecosystem, history, and even some eye-opening (and heartbreaking) conspiracies about the national park.

The service was top-notch (as always)—every detail was so well taken care of, and the crew made sure we felt safe and comfortable the whole way. The change of itinerary was super well planned, too, and made the whole trip smooth and enjoyable.

Every trip with you just gets better, and I can’t wait to see where we’ll go next. Thanks for another unforgettable adventure!

This trip experience has gone down as one of my highlights in 2024! Not only that I got to explore this part of Indonesia, and be surrounded by its beautiful nature (complete package –> beach, jungle, pretty sky, the flora & fauna), I also went home with eyes more opened from all the educational sharing session especially about sad (& enraging) truth of Javan Rhino and how problematic TNUK actually is. I was touched to know that at least some people (including Local Escape) are still caring for these Javan Rhinos and trying to protect them.

I also found myself particularly enjoying the little things such as –> the sharing session at the pier under the starry sky, the conversation we had on the pick up truck in between transporting locations, the refreshing coconut water and the yummy gorengan! And lucky me, my group happened to consist of fun peeps who helped make this trip truly memorable! And of course huge props to the great guides!

The trip was very fun. I really like how the guides were very respectful both to the travelers and to the nature itself.

The trip really showed me that a fun trip is not about the laughing and the playfulness , but it’s actually about the respectfulness, the knowledge we carry out of the forest, the sense of rawness of everything, and to see the world from another perspective.

On the night I came home, I told my mom how the trip changed me in a way. I am a doctor, due to the nature of my job, hospital is our world and we tend shut ourself out within it. But this trip made me look back of how the world is bigger than our palm, how there are people out there with bigger purpose, and bigger message.

Travelingnya in general bagus, kita dibawa ke lokasi hidden gem banget, benar-benar teredukasi perihal kondisi real dari taman hutan lindung ujung kulon. Spotnya benar- benar beda sama lokasi mainstream spot yang kebanyakan open trip lain. Yang paling berkesan masuk ke hutan di Day3, karena bener-bener buka jalur baru.

at first, i chose localescape bcs its like semi-private opentrip bcs it only consist of 12-13 people. selain itu, tujuannya yang anti mainstream juga bikin ngiler. and turns out… SERU BANGET! i guess im kinda lucky because i met new people yang vibesnya sama dan baik baik. TL & guidenya juga asik banget diajak ngobrol dan cerita. all good. diprovide dan dibantu amat sangat. bahkan sendalku yang putus diperbaiki dengan tangan magicnya mas Rendy. keren. i had so much fun out there! thankyou!

Honestly, I underestimated the physical activity I had to embark on during the tour. However, local stories about the place, animals, and history make the journey (a bit) more manageable. I am overall satisfied and looking forward to my next trip to Sumba. Ps. I already recommend Local Escape to some of my friends!

Dari awal pilih localescape dibanding trip yang lain adalah karena Pengalaman open trip banyuwangi yang bener2 memuaskan walaupun harganya lebih pricey. Open trip feels like private trip, ga cuma mikir cuan tapi juga mikir kenyamanan peserta tripnya. Jumlah peserta yang terbatas bikin trip ini jadi eksklusif dan lebih intimate karna masing2 peserta jadi saling kenal. Pelayanannya juga ramah, tour guide dan rangersnya pun baik, seru dan helpful.

As great as the catalogue. The way Local Escape create the itineraries for me is excellent. Its like watching a concert, it gives you the warm up feeling, peak feeling, and the encore feeling which then make you dont want to end the trip.

The way the team recharge us is very special. We were treated with the ice (like real cold) coconut water at the right time everyday. Then there’s surprise snack time in the middle of our boat ride or jungle trekking. It really separate Local Escape from the others. Then theres definitely the people who take care of us wherever whenever, great character that makes us comfortable during the trip. Two tumbs up to the local escape team, they all have kind hearted, even when i got injured (cause a little accident because of my own mistake), they help me ,care of me , take me save to homestay.

I love how thougtful Local Escape’s team with participants; going back and forth in the line during the trekking to ensure everybody’s safety, providing snacks & drinks in between activity, taking care when injured/sick. Also big props for going extra miles providing reusable box & glass for every meal time. The guides also fun, very helpful and knowledgeable about the place. Awalnya tertarik karena ngeliat instagram dan kontennya yg well-prepared jadi punya ekspektasi yg tinggi juga, tapi setelah sampai dan jalanin tripnya, diluar ekspektasi banget sih bener bener worth it dengan harganya. Sampe sekarang masih belum bisa move on:( seneng banget bisa ke tempat-tempat yg gak cuma bagus viewnya tapi juga dpt experience dan sportnya. Ranger-rangernya juga baik banget, jagain kita banget dan yg psti gak akan kelaperan/kehausan selama dalam perjalanan dan di tempat” tripnya.

Perjalanan yang luar biasa, berbeda dari yang lain. Guide dan Ranger tripnya baik banget, lucu, pengertian, dan semua pertanyaan kita tentang Ujung Kulon pasti terjawab. Punya jalur khusus bikin perjalanan ini rasanya luar biasa banget, jadi bisa nikmatin setiap hal yang ada di Ujung Kulon. Aku rasa, aku akan kembali lagi kesana hahaha

It was the first time for me to have trekking experience and in the jungle as well. That’s why it was so much challenging for me but I could finish all the destinations. Overall this was one of the best trip I’ve ever experienced so far and I’m very grateful I could have it with Local Escape. All the members, services and whole trip are the best. I surely would like to join another trip.

kalo dibandingin sama trip 4D dulu yang gw pernah ikut sih itinnya yang ini lebih special gara” ada jalur khusus LE wkwkwk hari terakhir juga lebih enakk, chillnya di Pulau Handeleum. Buat guide sama ranger udah lebih bawel ke tamu, lebih informatif tentang lokasi. All in all, tripnya seruu. Ga nyesel lah ikut lagi kesinii ✌
