Are trips physically demanding?

Whether you prefer a relaxed journey that won't require much physical effort or you're seeking an adventure to push your limits, we have a trip for you. Each of our trips is categorized with a Physical Activity Level, so you can gauge its physical demands and choose accordingly.

Private Trip

What is Private Trip?

A Private Trip is an exclusive travel experience tailored for you, your friends, family, or partner, with no other tourists joining. You have the flexibility to upgrade your accommodations, select your preferred travel date (subject to availability), and enjoy cost savings when more people join your vacation.

Can I just do part of the trip?

Although you won’t be reimbursed for the trip unused, you can opt to sign off the trip if you need to leave a day or so earlier. If you let us know before travel that you’ll be arriving late or need to leave before the trip ends, we will notify our team on the ground to best accommodate your requirements.

Can I make changes to my private trip itinerary during the trip?

Please make sure you are happy with your private trip itinerary before booking. However, if you wish, we can change your itinerary to your own liking.

Open Trip

What is Open Trip?

Whether you're a solo adventurer or exploring with a group of friends, our Open Trip allows you to connect and share experiences with fellow travelers in a group setting. Our Open Trip has no minimum participant requirement (even one person can join), and the travel dates are predetermined and published in advance.

How many people will be on my trip?

Good things come in small numbers. For most of our trips, you'll be part of an intimate group of 6-12 like-minded individuals.

Can I add an extra night either before or after my open trip?

Absolutely! Feel free to request an extension either before or after your trip during the booking process. Our client support team will assist you with this.

I’m traveling alone, it that ok?

That’s one of the great thing of Open Trip, many of our travellers join because they are travelling solo and want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.

If I travel alone, will I be charged extra for a room?

As a solo traveler, you will be paired with another traveler of the same gender in shared accommodations. If you prefer not to share a room, you have the option to pay for a single supplement.

Age Requirement

Are there age restrictions on your trips?

For the majority of our trips, the minimum age requirement is 15 years old. However, we recommend checking the specific minimum age requirement for each trip, as it may vary.

Can my kids participate in the trip without me?

Participants aged between 12 and 18 must either be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or provide a signed authorization letter from their parents, guardians, and the responsible adult overseeing them.

Food, drink, dietary requirement

I have special dietary requirements – will they be catered for?

Participants with special diets or allergies should inform us during the booking process. However, we cannot guarantee that all special requests can be accommodated due to prevailing situations and conditions.

What will the food be like on my trip?

Food is one of the most exciting aspects of travel. Whether you discover familiar tastes or encounter something entirely new, our trips always include hearty and delicious meals that you'll enjoy throughout the entire journey.

Bookings

How do I book your trip?

Before booking, ensure your desired trip is available. To confirm your booking, a 30% deposit (DP) of the total package price is required. Full payment must be made at least 14 days before departure to secure your booking. Failure to pay in full within this time may result in cancellation, with the deposit being non-refundable. Once full payment is received, Local Escape guarantees that all trip arrangements will proceed as planned.

Why has the price of a trip I wanted to book changed?

We reserve the right to adjust the package price in response to any price increases at the destination. In the event of a price increase, you will be promptly notified of the updated package price before your booking is finalized.

Trip changes and booking amendments

Are your trip guaranteed to depart?

Most trips are guaranteed to depart as long as there are no extreme weather disturbances. This means that once you book a trip and complete your payment, you can be confident that it will proceed.

I want to reschedule my originally booked trip, can I change the dates?

You have the option to reschedule your trip within the same year as your original booking. Please note that changing your trip date within the same year will result in an additional compensation fee, which varies based on the time period you specify. If you need to reschedule your trip to the following year, an additional fee will apply, determined by the price increase for that year.

Booking confirmation

Once you make your booking and Local Escape receives either the specified deposit (DP) or full payment from you, your booking is confirmed. You will then receive a written invoice or receipt as confirmation.

Trip cancellations

I want to cancel my booking, how can I do this?

If you wish to cancel your trip, please contact our Client Support (admin) directly via WhatsApp or email. Please note that a cancellation fee will apply due to the costs incurred in canceling your travel arrangements. For more details, refer to our Booking Conditions.

I booked a trip last week and now it's on sale, can I have the difference refunded?

Unfortunately, we are unable to refund the price difference for trips that are now on sale. When you book a trip, you agree to our Booking Conditions, which include the total price of the trip at the time of booking.

I want to cancel my booking, can I get a full refund?

Unfortunately, all payments made are non-refundable. However, in the event that we have to cancel your trip, you will be eligible for a full refund of the amount paid or have the option to accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of a comparable standard from us.

Payments

Full Payment

You have the option to pay for your trip in full at the time of booking. However, we recommend making a deposit or down payment initially.

Deposits / Down Payment

Why is the deposit / down payment for my trip non-refundable?

We require a deposit because our operations team begins booking your services with local suppliers immediately. Many of these services are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another traveler. Even if cancellations are possible, they may incur a cancellation or administrative fee, which is covered by your deposit.

I made a payment for the wrong amount, what are my options?

Don’t worry. If you paid too much by mistake, please contact us via WhatsApp to organise a refund.

When is the final due date for my trip?

Full payment must be made at least 14 days before the departure date. Failure to make full payment may result in cancellation of your booking, and any deposit paid will be non-refundable.

Discounts

If any trip is being discounted, you’ll see that on the trip prices itself. The original price will be crossed out, and the discount will be already reflected in the final price.

On Your Trip

Activities

Can I opt out of certain activities if I want to?

If there are any activities that you don’t wish to participate in, you can do your own thing instead.

How difficult is the trek on my trip?

Every trip has treks ranging from relatively easy to extremely difficult. The easiest way to determine if a trek is right for you is to check the physical activity level of the trip

What if I arrive late and miss part of the trip?

On Open Trip, if you arrive late from the appointed time to the meeting point, we and the other participants will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes for anyone to arrive and if you’re still late we will leave you behind and continue according to the predetermined schedule. If you think you’re running late then do contact our client support. On Private Trip, you only need to tell our client support that you will arrive late from the predetermined schedule and we will notify our team in the field.

Accommodation

Is the accommodation air-conditioned?

We want our travellers to be as comfortable as possible so almost all of our accommodations is likely will either have a fan or air-con. Of course, if you are staying in remote areas or at homestays, you will need to expect the facilities to be a little more basic.

What standard of accommodation should I expect?

The standard of accommodation depends on the destination you have chosen, overall, the accommodations range from basic to luxury one that you can upgrade.

Camping

What facilities are at the campsites?

On the trip that has camping as an activity will range from having relatively complete facilities, from tents, sleeping mats, seat pads, toilet tents, lighting, and urinal bags, to the bare basic facilities at a minimum.

Will I need a sleeping bag/mat/tent?

Almost all camping gears is provided by us, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag, towel and headlamp.

Communication Facility

What communication facility will be available?

Communication facilities are always improving. Many hotels and public places have Wi-Fi and some SIM card provider have coverage while others don’t. Be sure to see the detail on our package catalogue.

Will I get Wi-Fi coverage?

Some places have Wi-Fi hot spots everywhere and other places will have no coverage at all. If you stumble into the latter, take the rare chance to just sit back and get to know your fellow travellers the old-fashioned way.

Will I be able to charge my electrical appliances?

In most places you’ll be able to recharge your appliances at the hotel. We recommend you bring a travel adapter with you.

Transportation

What type of transport is used?

The type of transport used depends on how many people are in your trip, on average you’ll be riding a minivan or a minibus.
